Alternating selections of colour and black and white images inspired by the landscape of the Morecambe Bay area in the north west of England. An inlet of the Irish sea, thirty kilometres in length with an average width of sixteen kilometres, Morecambe Bay has one of the highest tidal ranges in the world and the largest area of intertidal sands and mudflats in the United Kingdom. In addition, there are associated saltmarshes, shingle beaches, forests and a unique community of plants. Morecambe Bay is one of the most important wildlife sites in Europe. It is perhaps no surprise that the Cornwall-based environmental charity, the Eden Project, is developing Eden Project North at Morecambe to draw on the many natural wonders of the Bay.

The Bay and surrounding area is a special, dynamic landscape with constantly changing weather and light, strong winds, vast sands, huge skies and numerous rivers, islands, ponds, hills and woods. The images reflect the astonishing diversity of the Morecambe Bay landscape and especially the mood of visual uncertainty, caused by the rapid changes in weather that is most accurately symbolic of a truly unique place.

Technically the images are the result of darkroom experiments with film and paper development, and with various methods of combining photographs, cyanotypes and screen prints with paint, ink, and other media. The wide horizontal perspective of many of the images has been chosen to reflect the geographical shape of the Bay.
